For a world of Freedom

What we do

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is the foundation for liberal politics in the Federal Republic of Germany. It aims to promote the goal of making the principle of freedom valid for the dignity of all people and in all areas of society, both in Germany and abroad.

In our project countries, the support of human rights, rule of law and democracy in more than 60 countries form the core of the work of the regional offices in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Central America; various forms of international dialogue and transatlantic dialogue programme are used to promote these three values around the world. The foundation supports local, regional, and national initiatives to advance the rights of minorities, the democratic control of security forces and for strengthening international human rights coalitions.

Particular attention is dedicated to the Central American youth, who receive access to urgently needed know-how on how to make an active contribution to freer democracies through the Alliance.

    Estonia

Since 2005, the liberal Reform Party has been in power in Estonia. In contrast to many other post-communist states, the success of the Estonian liberals is not a temporary phenomenon, but rather confirms their consistently market-oriented reform policies, which were designed with a long time horizon on mind. This is why FNF is interested in transferring the Estonian experience to other countries in the region, where organised liberalism is weak. In addition, the Estonian Academy of Liberalism (AoL) is actively engaged on the 4Liberty.eu network.
